We’re heading to the London office for this month’s edition of Meet the Team.

Meet Harry, our Client Solutions Manager who joined us in 2019. Harry gets involved in all aspects of client work, marketing, and new business - he’s an all-round team player and a vital part of the team. So, read more to find out what's his typical day like, his favourite Somo product, and his three interesting facts (a Somo tradition!).

1. What's a typical day like for you at Somo?

When I started at Somo my typical day was quite different. I would wake up early, stop to get coffee on my way to the tube, commute into work, and spend the day at the office with my fellow Somo-ers. Now my commute involves walking downstairs from my bedroom to the living room where I work. At the start of the day, I’ll organise and prioritise what I need to focus on, before jumping on any morning catch-up calls. I’ll generally pop out to get a much-needed coffee and some lunch (lockdown permitting) before cracking on with my afternoon tasks and calls.

In my role as Client Solution Executive, I have been lucky enough to get broad exposure to a number of key areas of the business. I work across the Marketing, Client Solutions, and New Business functions of Somo and so day to day the work I do can vary greatly. From organising and promoting our fantastic events, to working on new business proposals and pitches, to working with a client to deliver a cutting edge digital solution. The variety on offer in a week working at Somo is just one of the things that makes it such a great place to work.

2. What’s your favourite product that Somo has created?

Personally, I’m a big fan of cinch. Given the speed at which we delivered this product, it’s a fantastic piece of work. We created an entirely new proposition for an established business. This app removes the faff from the process of buying a used car. This is something I’ve struggled with in the past looking for a reliable car that satisfied my limited budget whilst travelling in New Zealand. I ended up buying a car for $200 from other travellers that were heading home, before driving from Queenstown to Christchurch — 6 hours through the isolated countryside... but hey, all’s well that ends well.

3. Tell us three interesting facts about you

  • I once did a 150+ metre bungy jump, despite being terrified of heights.

  • I grew up in the Yorkshire countryside in a converted farmhouse, so I’m a country boy at heart. Now I live in East London and it’s quite the change.

  • I played rugby at Twickenham in the under-15 Daily Mail cup final. My rugby career peaked a little early as this was certainly the pinnacle.

Somo ranked as the best digital agency to work for in this year’s Campaign Live’s Best Places to Work 2020 and has been recognised in Inc. magazine’s annual list of Best Workplaces in America for 2020.
